Nonthermal Plasma Induced Fabrication of Solid Acid Catalysts for Glycerol Dehydration to Acrolein

نویسندگان

چکیده

The feasibility of fabricating better solid acid catalysts using nonthermal plasma (NTP) technology for biobased acrolein production is demonstrated. NTP discharge exposure was integrated in catalyst fabrication air or argon atmosphere. fabricated were characterized by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area analysis, temperature-programmed desorption ammonia, X-ray powder diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy pyridine adsorption, comparison to regularly prepared as a control. Further, kinetic results collected via glycerol dehydration experiments compared, improvement selectivity displayed when the NTP, but not NTP. Possible mechanisms also discussed.

Glycerol Valorization: Dehydration to Acrolein Over Silica-Supported Niobia Catalysts

The catalytic dehydration of glycerol to acrolein is investigated over silica-supported niobia catalysts in a continuous fixed-bed gas-phase reactor. Various supported niobia catalysts are prepared and characterized using surface analysis and spectroscopic methods (XRD, UV–Vis, XPS, N2 adsorption), as well as with ammonia adsorption microcalorimetry. Good results are obtained with initial glyce...

Glycerol Dehydration to Acrolein Catalyzed by ZSM‐5 Zeolite in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Medium

Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2 ) has been used for the first time as a reaction medium for the dehydration of glycerol to acrolein catalyzed by a solid acid. Unprecedented catalyst stability over 528 hours of time-on-stream was achieved and the rate of coke deposition on the zeolite catalyst was the lowest among extensive previous studies, showing potential for industrial application. Cok...

Dehydration of Glycerol over High Surface Area Γ-alumina Supported Heteropoly Acid Catalysts

Dehydration of glycerol was performed over heteropoly acids (HPA), viz., silicotungstic acid (H-SiW), phosphotungstic acid (H-PW), and phosphomolybdic acid (H-PMo), supported high surface area γ-alumina (HSAI-S25) catalysts. Various physico-chemical studies of these supported catalysts indicate high dispersion of the active (HPA) species on the support surface. It was observed that the catalyst...

A Comparative Study of Different Al-Based Solid Acid Catalysts for Catalytic Dehydration of Ethanol

In this present study, the catalytic dehydration of ethanol over three different Al-based solid acid catalysts including H-beta zeolite (HBZ), modified H-beta zeolite with γ-Al2O3 (Al-HBZ) and mixed γχ phase of Al2O3 (M-Al) catalysts was investigated. The ethanol dehydration reaction was performed at temperature range of 200 to 400oC. It revealed that all catalysts exhibited higher ethanol conv...

Selective Gas-Phase Conversion of Glycerol to Acetol Over Promoted Zirconia Solid Acid Catalysts

The vapour phase selective conversion of glycerol to acetol at normal atmospheric pressure in a fixed-bed micro reactor was investigated over SO4 2 and WOx promoted ZrO2 and M-ZrO2 (M = Al2O3 or TiO2) solid acid catalysts. The investigated sulfate and tungstate ion promoted zirconia-based catalysts were prepared by both coprecipitation and impregnation methods and calcined at 923 K. The synthes...
